Gratitude = Blessing

Help for Students going Back to School

We have just a couple more Sundays in August and that means just a couple more classes to supply our local kids with tools they need for the school year.

Sunday's 4PM FaithFlow Yoga is a donation based class. This means, to attend class we just ask students to bring a donation. Any dollars this month will go towards purchasing school supplies for community needs.

For the month of August we have focused on working with schools to provide supplies to children that do not have what they need.

Many students at Threads have shown up with beautiful backpacks and armfuls of supplies! We will continue collecting supplies, sorting and locating the teachers with students lacking supplies throughout the rest of this month. Hopefully, with these donations, many more students will have adequate supplies just like their friends they sit next to.

Students have brought in supplies for two Sunday classes so far and we are thrilled to be able to bless these supplies to local kids. We would ABSOLUTELY love to provide more supplies.

So, what is FaithFlow?

In yoga, we aim to connect to and practice strengthening our minds, our bodies and our spirit. Meditation is a component at the end of class where students can practice stilling the mind, settling the body into rest and allowing a spiritual practice to take shape in a safe place.

As the teacher, (Tanna), what has been most meaningful and brilliant to me in growing my faith and spiritual practice are scriptures from the bible. These encouraging, living words will meet your right where you are at and let you ponder the blessings and mercies we have around us each day. For the days that are more difficult, hard and burdensome, you will find a strength deeper than your own that can lift you up, hold you and help you breathe into the next moment or day.

Class begins at 4PM and is inclusive to all ages, levels and abilities. The first 30 minutes of class we learn how to move with our breath, slowly, from pose to pose.

The second 30 minutes is spent unraveling the body, unwinding tension and restoring the supple nature of body and mind in restful postures. For this segment of the class we use thick blankets to sit on, large and small bolsters and blocks to add support. We can rest and gain better flexibility well when we are well supported.

I look forward to sharing this practice with you and connecting our blessings to our community we practice in. <3
